Philistia (Hebrew: פלשת, Pĕlesheth) is the southern coastal plain of Canaan or the land of Israel where a mix of at least three different types of ancient people primarily from the Aegean civilization became prominent. They first reached the region during the final years of the Late Bronze age and the initial stage of the Iron age (ca. 1250-1100 BC).
