Michael or Mishael (Hebrew: מיכאל, Mīḵāʼēl; Greek: Μιχαήλ, Michaēl; Latin: Michael; Arabic: ميخائيل, Miḵāʼīl; "Name means::Who is like God?") is the name of at least three personages in the Bible:
- Michael the Archangel, The chief of all the angels, whom Jude cites as deferring to God rather than trying to take on Satan by himself in a dispute over the body of Moses.
- Prince Michael, son of Jehoshaphat and brother of Jehoram. Unhappily, Jehoram killed him in order to solidify his position as king of the Kingdom of Judah.
- Prince Michael or Mishael, a friend of Daniel, known to history by his Chaldean name Meschach. He was thrown into a burning fiery furnace for not worshiping the golden statue erected by Nebuchadnezzar II (Daniel 3 ).
