(Redirected from Meschach)
Michael, or Mishael (Hebrew: Who is like unto God?) is the name of at least three personages in the Bible:
- The chief of all the angels, whom Jude cites as deferring to God rather than trying to take on Satan by himself in a dispute over the body of Moses.
- Prince Michael, son of Jehoshaphat and brother of Jehoram. Unhappily, Jehoram killed him in order to solidify his position as king of the Southern Kingdom.
- Prince Michael or Mishael, a friend of Daniel, known to history by his Chaldean name Meschach. He was thrown into a burning fiery furnace for not worshipping the golden statue erected by Nebuchadnezzar II (Daniel 3 ).
