The First Book of Maccabees or 1 Maccabees (Hebrew: ʹספר מקבים א, Sēfer Maqabim Ālef; Greek: Βίβλος Αʹ Μακκαβαίων, Biblōs Alpha Makkabaion; Latin: Liber Primus Machabæorum), also called 1 Machabees, is one of the Deuterocanonical books included in the Septuagint that is considered canonical by Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Christians, but apocryphal by Protestants.
