Vodka is a clear alcoholic beverage that is made from fermentable sugars and grains. Originally, the definition of vodka is colorless or flavorless, but in modern day, many people add custom ingredients to create and customize different colors and flavors. Nobody knows vodka's true origin, but people believe that it came from Russia. Early vodka's percentage of alcohol was 14 percent and it used for medicines. In 1934, Smirnoff made the first vodka distillation system in the United States, since still had invented, people could make purer vodka. There are two types of vodka from different regions of the world. In Eastern countries, such as Russia and Europe, it is very harsh. But in western countries vodka is very smooth and neutral. [1]

There are four types of Vodka. The first one is classic vodka. It is that made with any materials that contain fermentable sugars. It becomes more pure through the distillation process. The second one is flavored vodka. People put artificial ingredients into the vodka, so that they are able to create any flavors what they want to taste. People also put veggies, fruits and other spices into it. The third one is bison-grass vodka, also known as Zubrowka, which originates from Poland. It is distilled and flavored with bison grass, which gives yellow colors and vanilla flavors to the vodka. The last one is overproof vodka. It is higher than 80 percent, which is the traditional. People use this to make cocktails. [1]

How to make

There are various ways to make different types of vodka. Numerous vodka brands make vodka in different ways

People make Vodka by distilling it with a column still. Also they use pot still. Whiskey and Vodka, vodka is different from whiskey. Vodka has less flavoring from its ingredients than Whiskey. The Scottish people started to use column stills. People can create more pure drink by using column stills, but it has less flavor. Because alcohol in drink, it will be evaporated when it's in the lower temperature then the water. But the real problem is that water will be evaporated with the alcohol.[2]

Before you make the Vodka, You should choose what you want to add in the Vodka first. Usually people make Vodka with potatoes, but it is pretty sure that potatoes are the only materials that are used for making the Vodka. People make Vodka with using potatoes mixed with grain. Potatoes have a lot of starch that should be divided into sugar and other things, but it cannot be divided by itself. So, people use malted grain for breaking potatoes' starches into sugars.[2]

The necessary materials for making Vodka are potatoes, crushed malted grain, and cane sugar. People mash the potatoes and leave them in the kettle for an hour. Add grain into the bowl that has mashed potatoes in it, into the kettle of water at 150 degrees. The mashed potatoes with grains are not only good for yeast, but are still good for bacteria as well. Bacteria will be bothered when people try to put yeast. And ingredients, water will be poured into the fermentation vessel. Then, it's ready to add the yeast in it. It will take from 3 days to a week for the fermentation process. When people are done with fermenting, it's time to start the distillation process. The first step of distillation is the "beer striping run." After that, the second one is "low wine." The alcohol percentage should be lower than 20 percent. Using an alcohol hydrometer is recommended for measuring the alcohol percentage. When the percentage of alcohol is lower than 20 percent, then it's done.[2]

Uses

The strongest drink can be used for medicines and home tools

Vodka can be used at home and other places in several ways, not only for drinking. Putting soap, water and vodka into sprayer and spraying it on the windows at the home or in the office can make them clean. It also removes the bad smells from shoes. Vodka can be used for peeling off stickers that people can't peel off easily, and will kill weeds of sprayed onto them. People can also use it for their hair, too. It makes hair shiny and healthy. It also heal the ivy's sickness on its skin, it removes the bad poison from ivy. Furthermore, girls can use vodka for their jewelry, too. Finally, it can relieve the bad stings of jellyfish, which can kill or harm people. [3]

Vodka can be used for making the laundry fresher, too. Vodka will remove the bacteria that causes the bad smells from the laundry only if used before the fabrics have dried. Also, vodka can be used for preserving flowers. If the flowers are preserved by the chemicals and reactions, then people can keep them for several years. Flowers can be kept as a symbols for people. Mix the vodka with sugar, put the drops of them onto the flowers. Flowers which are preserved don't need any water for several years. Vodka also kills the insects or bugs that can harm or scare a person. Vodka can be used for relieving toothache before see a dentist as well. [4]

Therefore, several benefits to drinking vodka. Vodka reduce stress, and also it's good for toothaches, too. It will keep skin healthy, and helps hair to grow longer. Vodka can make people calm because it has some chemicals for making brain to calm. Vodka can reduce stress of the brain, and people. Vodka also can relieve the pain of toothache. It will reduce the pain in the infected area since it's in the mouth and pain part. It can be also worked for mouthwashes. The main benefit of vodka is that it is able to protect a person from heart disease. Vodka makes blood to flow freely. Since it doesn't have many calories, it doesn't offer harmful cholesterol and fat. [5]

Negative Effects of Vodka

People can have a great time from drinking one or two glasses of Vodka, but if it goes more than that, then it will be addictive. The addiction of Vodka comes very quickly to people. People can check themselves whether they addicted it or not. If a person can't stop when they should. One negative effect is, Liver disease. Vodka will make the liver weak and will destroy the protection of liver that protects lots of bad bacteria or diseases from outside. Vodka will also cause heart disease and cancers. Vodka will cause high blood pressure, which will lead to heart attack or diseases. Furthermore, vodka will give damage to the brain. Vodka kills the brain cells, and brain cells can no longer be created. The loss of brain cells will cause many problems. For example, memory function and speech will be impaired. Vodka will have bad effects on the Heart and circulatory system. Vodka will cause high blood pressure and will increase the possibility of heart attack and heart diseases. It makes the heart muscle weaker. The brain, liver, or other important parts of body will be destroyed by a weak heart system. Heart problems caused by drinking alcohol such as vodka, can affect every part of body. It may lead people to deaths. Lungs are also important parts of body. Infections in the lungs will occur if people drink too much. Also, the liver is a important part of body. The liver has the ability to remove toxic or poisonous things from alcohol, such as vodka, but if the amount of poison or toxic substances is higher than the limits, the liver will give up immediately. If the liver gets too much damage from that, then poisoned parts of liver should be removed from the body. High blood pressure, which is caused by drinking vodka, will lead to kidney disease too. Vodka blocks the ability to consume calcium and the bones weaken. [6]
