In cell biology, a vesicle is a small bubble within a cell, and thus a type of cellular organelle.
Types of vesicles
Vacuoles
- Main article: Vacuole
In some mature plant cells, the central vacuole may constitute more than 90% of the cell volume.[1]
Lysosomes
- Main article: Lysosome
Transport vesicles
Secretory vesicles
Secretory vesicles store secreted proteins and fuse with the plasma membrane to release their contents.[2]
