The spermatophyta is a large phylum comprised of seed producing plants within the plant kingdom.[1] It comes from the Greek word 'Σπερματόφυτα' which includes the root words 'spermato' meaning seed and 'phyt' which means plant. They are part of the embryophytes, or land plants.
