Pygmy marmoset

Marmosets are tiny monkeys. Their name originates from a French word for shrimp, meaning tiny. Living in the high tree tops, they live a protected gentle lifestyle. Many of the larger marmosets are called "tamarins". Three are three groups of Marmosets, "true" marmosets, tamarins, and Goeldi’s monkey (Callimico goeldi). These marmosets are found in the Upper Amazon basin east of the Andes in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Northern Bolivia and Brazil. Living in a highly populated family lifestyle, congregating, socializing and protecting is the main base of their solitude habits. They have been studied in captivity since the 1960s but less is known of those in the wild. They are often valued as pets.
