Dimocarpus longan, commonly known as the longan, is a tropical tree that produces edible fruit. Longan is commonly associated with lychee, which is similar in structure but more aromatic in taste.It is native to Southern Asia.The Longan, is so named because it resembles an eyeball when its fruit is shelled.

Body Design

The tree can grow to over 10 feet,the branches are long and thick, typically drooping.The leaves usually 4–8 inches long and 2 in wide.The fruit hangs in drooping clusters that are circular and about 1 in wide. The peel is tan, thin, and leathery with tiny hairs. The flesh is translucent, and the seed is large and black with a circular white spot at the base. [2]

Fruit nearly spherical, 1.2-2.5 cm in diameter, usually yellowish or sometimes grayish yellow, slightly rough outside, or rarely slightly convex; The seeds are brown, shiny, and all wrapped in a fleshy, fake leather. Flower period spring and summer, fruit period summer. [3]
