Genetic diversity

Genetic diversity is the total information contained within all individuals of a given population, species or group of species. It is given by the number and relative frequency of all genes (and their alleles) present in a group[1] It is distinguished from genetic variability, which describes the tendency of genetic characteristics to vary.
