The Chinese giant salamander is the largest species of amphibian. it has destroyed many habitats because it eats most things. over the past 30 years the Chinese giant salamander has decreased in population drastically making it an endangered species. [1]


Body Design

Description

the Chinese giant salamander has a flat body with a broad head and tail. its tail takes up 60% of the overall length the Chinese giant salamander. they can grow up to one meter in length and ca weigh up to 250 pounds. their color ranges from dark brown, black or greenish. they also have irregular spotted patterns. [2]

== Life Cycle == the females lay a stream of about 500 eggs underwater. each egg is about 22mm. during the 55-56 days that it takes them to hatch the male aggressively guards the eggs. the newborn Chinese giant salamanders look like miniature versions of the adults and they don't state eating until 30 days after the hatching process. Ecology

The Chinese Giant Salamanders breeding season is between August and September. the females lay a stream of about 500 eggs underwater and the male will guard them from other animals trying to eat the eggs. the Chinese giant salamander is nocturnal and feeds on crustaceans, mollusks and toads and frogs. it also eats small mammals.
