Azerbaijan (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan), officially the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Respublikası), is a landlocked country located in the Caucasus region on the border with Asia and Europe. It is one of the countries that was formed after the breakup of the Soviet Union. It is mostly Muslim and a majority of the people are of Azeri decent.

Geography

Azerbaijan has an area of around 86,000 sq. km. It borders Iran, Armenia, Georgia, and the Russia.

Demographics

There are over 8,000,000 people in Azerbaijan. The average age of the people is 27 years. Muslims 93% while Eastern Orthodox make up another 5%. The rest profess to some other religion.
