The Democratic Republic of the Congo (French: République démocratique du Congo), also known as DR Congo, the DRC, DROC, Congo-Kinshasa, or simply the Congo, is a country located in Central Africa. It was first created in 1908 as a colony of Belgium. It then gained its independence in 1960.[1]
