Subject: list of creation organizations
Greetings in Christ,
I was recently directed to your site, in particular to your list of creationist organizations. Under the first group (National Organizations), you list the Affiliation of Christian Geologists.
Having attended ACG meetings for the past 10 years or so, I can confidently say that this group is not creationist, nor would it want to be identified as such. In fact, three years ago, the organization created a statement of affirmation that the Earth is ancient (4.5 billion years), which can be read here:
Additionally, the majority of the current leadership of the ACG are theistic evolutionists (or, evolutionary creationists, as many prefer to be called). So unless your definition of “creationist” includes those who believe that God used evolution as His means of creation, this group would not qualify even under a fairly broad “creationist” banner. If I called those I know in the ACG “creationists”, they would not react positively to such an association. The same goes for their parent organization, the American Scientific Affiliation (ASA).
