Donald DeYoung

Dr. Donald B. DeYoung is an avid creation scientist and educator. He specializes in astronomy and in solid-state and nuclear science. He is the Chairman of the Department of Physical Science and Mathematics at the Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. He has been teaching at Grace College since 1972. His courses include teachings on physics, astronomy and mathematics. While on sabbatical, he spends time in San Diego, Europe and the South Pacific.

DeYoung is the current president of the Creation Research Society. The Creation Research Society has over 1,700 members worldwide; they fund research, operate a lab in Arizona, and publish technical journals. During the years of 1989 to 1994, he was also the Editor of the Creation Research Society Quarterly. He conducts lectures on many creation topics like astronomy, astrophysics, the Genesis Flood, dinosaurs, and a Creator. He strongly believes that the littlest details in nature definitively point to a divine creator and His love for mankind. He also puts on workshops for children with Bible-science activities. He is on the summer staff of the Institute for Creation Research. While there, he teaches astronomy and quantum mechanics. DeYoung writes and speaks for the organization Answers in Genesis. ^[1]

Dr. DeYoung is a member of the Indiana Academy of Science and the Au Sable Environmental Institute. The Au Sable Institute strives to “promote Christian environmental stewardship through academic and community programs, retreats and conferences.” ^[2]

He also teaches at his local church as a Sunday-school teacher. He is an elder and small-group leader, as well as a member of the Warsaw Christian School Board. DeYoung is married to Sally and has three daughters, all of whom are also married. Dr. DeYoung has written many books and articles on creationism. Sixteen of his books have been published, and his articles have appeared in such magazines as The Journal of Chemical Physics, The Journal of Chemistry and Physics of Solids, and The Creation Research Society Quarterly. His books cover topics of Bible-sciences. He has also written several books aimed towards children. ^[3] ^[4]

Dr. DeYoung also has a Master of Divinity theological qualification. ^[5]

My scientific belief in creation is largely based on two thermodynamic laws of nature. The first law states that energy is conserved or constant at all times. This rule ensures a dependable and predictable universe, whether for stars or for human life. The second basic law…describes unavoidable losses in any process whatsoever which involves the transfer of energy. This law is directly related to the Curse which was placed upon nature at the fall of mankind in Eden. Secular science has no satisfactory explanation for such laws of nature…these laws are entirely consistent with the biblical, six-day creation.
