David Berlinski (born 1942, New York City, USA) is an American philosopher, educator, and author. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from Princeton University and was later a postdoctoral fellow in mathematics and molecular biology at Columbia University.[1] Berlinski is a Senior Fellow of the Discovery Institute's Center for Science and Culture,[1] and a critic of the theory of evolution and Darwinism.[2][3]

In 2012, mathematician and computing theorist Gregory Chaitin published "Proving Darwin: Making Biology Mathematical". Chaitin points out in his preface that the provocation for the creation of metabiology was the book The Devil's Delusion by his friend David Berlinski, a book offering a scathing critique of Darwinism.[4]

Berlinski defines himself as a secular Jew.[5] Berlinski was interviewed by Ben Stein in the 2008 film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. Berlinski lives in Paris, France.[6] According to Robert Shapiro, Berlinski is an advocate of Intelligent Design.[7] William Dembski characterizes Berlinski as a design sympathizer.[8]
