The wikiFactor (wF) is a metric of the "importance of a wikisite". It was proposed by Carl McBride in a paper on the topic.[1] This metric is based on the Hirsch h-index that is defined as the number of papers, h, that have ≥h citations.[1] To calculate the wF, you can see the list of the pages sorted by the number of views. Then, you look at the n-th page in the list with less then n * 1000 views. And then calculate wF = n-1. For instance, CreationWiki has a wikiFactor of 46 (47 - 1):
Position | Page | # of views | Requirement |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Main Page | 1,885,495 | ≥ 1,000 |
2 | Circulatory system | 192,798 | ≥ 2,000 |
3 | Geologic time scale | 183,249 | ≥ 3,000 |
4 | Respiratory system | 180,531 | ≥ 4,000 |
... | |||
45 | Human | 46,980 | ≥ 45,000 |
46 | Nucleotide | 46,951 | ≥ 46,000 |
47 | Evolution | 45,370 | < 47,000 |
48 | Periodic table | 45,364 | < 48,000 |
Other wikis
The English Wikipedia has a wF=396. Conservapedia has a wF=118. EvoWiki has a wF=28 and Liberapedia has a wF=7.
Bias on Wikipedia
Wikipedia has articles about wikis like LGBT History Project with a wF= 6 but do not have an article on CreationWiki with a wF=46.
