Apostle

Apostle, from the Ancient Greek άπόστολος (apostolos), literally means "one sent forth": a representative or messenger.
In the Bible, an Apostle is understood to mean one of the men personally called by Jesus to spread the Gospel. This would include not only Jesus' 11 Disciples (excepting Judas Iscariot, who was dead before Jesus issued the Great Commission), but also Paul of Tarsus, who was converted by an experience with the risen Christ and commanded to be a missionary to the Gentiles.
