Bactria (Greek: Βακτριανή, Bactriana; Persian: باختر, Bākhtar; Chinese: 大夏, Dàxià) is a Central Asian region located between the Hindu Kush mountain range and the Amu Darya river, encompassing parts of northern Afghanistan, eastern Turkmenistan, southern Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and northern Pakistan.
