Born in Inverness in 1948, from an early age he has had a fascination with the designs on the Pictish Symbol Stones of NE Scotland, their source, meaning and purpose. Following a career in telecoms engineering and management in the UK and more recently with global organisations, he has since researched a range of religious belief sets finally discovering a connection between Roman Mithraism and the symbols on the Pictish Symbol Stones. A parallel "career" with professional institutions culminated in his being the Chairman of Council of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (the second largest engineering professional body in the world) from 2006 to 2008. He is a Fellow of that Institution, the Chartered Management Institute and the Royal Society of Arts. He has drafted two books - The Purpose of the Pictish Symbol Stones and Pictish Symbol Stones Deciphered - for which he is about to seek a publisher. His research and propositions, called Pictish Mithraism, are at www.pictish-mithraism.com.
