John was trained as a secondary mathematics educator and taught for two full years. He is also the son and grandson of retired Protestant pastors. His interest in the young-earth/old-earth debate began in high school and was investigated during his early post-secondary education. After learning many of the formulas used to calculate the age of the earth and their potential pitfalls and assumptions, as well as the sheer unlikelihood of spontaneous generation, he became a fully-convinced young-earth creationist.
In recent years, John has noticed that many people have rejected the Biblical Faith on the premise that the Bible is unreliable. This being the case, he has studied the Biblical Canon and the issue of Biblical reliability extensively. This study resulted in his written work called "SWORD" (free version: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwuXF6C6jrjgX093cXB5OFN2VDA/view?usp=sharing). This work "SWORD" has been rewritten three times to keep it as up to date as possible and interacts with a number of worldviews. This work, in addition to discussing the origin, transmission, Canonization, and Christ's view of the Bible, also includes overviews of each Testament. The overview of the Old Testament includes a very clear affirmation of the belief that the Bible teaches that the earth is comparatively young (pp. 103-5).
