A theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of reality. In the scientific method theory is formed following the testing of a hypothesis and incorporates substantial facts and scientific law presupposing logic. Theory frequently exists as a belief or as a concept that can guide behavior, or an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena.
