Usage
The {{Template:Infobox planet}} creates a table of statistics for a celestial body and automatically annotates these as semantic properties.
The current list of fields that this template supports includes:
- name - If the article is not about the planet itself, specify this parameter to give the box a proper name. The default is the name of the article. Use this especially if you wish to place more than one infobox in one article.
- image - Specify the full filename (with extension) of the available image. Default is example.jpg.
- caption - Specify an optional caption for this image.
- symbol - For the objects that have one.
- image2 - Specify only if you have a second image. If you have no image, then this will display nothing at all.
- date - date of discovery.
- discname - name of discoverer
- origname - statement of origin of the name of the body
- primary - Tell what the primary is.
- order - place among other satellites of this primary, if known.
- apsis - Specify "helion" or "gee" or "areion" or "zene" or even "astron" or "galacticon" to customize the label of periapses and apoapses. By default the sub-template {{apsides}} will select the root for you on the basis of the primary; its own default is the word "apsis."
- periapsis - Give the periapsis in one of the allowed units (km,mi)
- apoapsis - Give the apoapsis.
- semimajor - Give the semi-major axis.
- orbitradius - Give the mean orbital radius if different from the semi-major axis.
- orbitalspeed - Give the average orbital speed in km/s, km/h, mi/s, or mph.
- inclination - Give the inclination from the primary's equator in rad or degrees.
- siderealday - A sidereal day
- solarday - A solar day
- rotatespeed - Speed of a moving point at the equator
- axialtilt - Inclination of axis from a ray perpendicular to the orbital plane at the barycenter
The mass of the planet:
- massmt - Mantissa
- massexp - Exponent
- massunit - The units of mass. Default is kg.
- meanradius - The mean radius of the planet
- equatorradius - The equatorial radius
- polarradius - The polar radius
- density - The density
- surfacearea - the surface area
- landarea - the land area
- waterarea - the water area
- meantemp - Lukewarm
- mintemp - Cold
- maxtemp - Hot!
- moons - number of satellites
- composition - what it's made of
- albedo - brightness
- mfd - Magnetic flux density. Report in tesla or gauss; it will display only in tesla.
The present magnetic dipole moment:
- pmdmmt - Mantissa
- pmdmexp - Exponent
- pmdmunit - Unit. Default is N-m/T.
The magnetic dipole moment at creation, per Humphreys:
- cmdmmt - Mantissa
- cmdmexp - Exponent
- cmdmunit - Unit. Default is N-m/T.
- mdt - Magnetic decay time
- mhl - Magnetic half life
