Talk:Tin oxide

Major changes to articles should first be proposed using the discussion page. Specifically seeking administrative approval before making a change of this magnitude is highly advisable.

We generally discourage the creation of stubs, and typically only split articles if the length has become excessive. I assumed that you had the equivalent of WP:BOLD here. I'll take a note of the policy here.

The problem here is that the two tin oxides are rather different. It is hard to write two sets of properties in one article without getting readers confused. For example, "appearance" in the chembox would have "white (hydrated) and blue-black or red (anhydrous) for tin(II) oxide; white for tin dioxide. It would be like having two articles in one. Each of the tin oxides has a different appearance, different molar mass, different ways of preparation, different properties, and different applications. Here are some of the similarities: name, atomic content (both have Sn and O atoms), state of matter.

Proposal: If you here prefer larger articles, then all of the tin compounds could be placed in one article, tin compounds.

In conclusion, this article was rather confusing because it had two different chemicals described in one article.
