Talk:Marble
Why marble?
After visited this wiki site for a few weeks, I feel this site is strange. There is not much discussion around, but a lot of page writing and revision (any discussion shown on the Recent changes page will be buried by a pile of new pages and new revisions within 12 hours). And many pages are seeming only for information purpose, but not touching anything about creation or evolution. It makes me think the current goal of this wiki site is to build the site into another one similar to the [Wikipedia]. Why do I say so? Take this page as an example, how would the discussion on marble help or promote the understanding of creation? The page is now blank and I do not want to add anything to it. Because the more one understand marble, the farther one will be driven away from any existing creation theories. What is the point to have this page on this site? --Juvenis Sun 18:29, 20 December 2006 (EST)
- The CreationWiki is not a discussion forum, as we plainly stated on our discussion policy page. Much of the related discussion occurs offsite - on our email list. The administrators handle most decisions through private email. Our users are encouraged to spend their time writing, reviewing, and editing articles. Discussion only has a purpose here in seeing to that end.
- The CreationWiki is an encyclopedia of creation science, which by definition is science as viewed by someone who believes in the creation. Although science is the principal subject, any topic related to the creation worldview is acceptable. We do not require that every article have a clear creation integration, though that is our wish. In fact, many science topics (i.e. operational science) will be indistinguishable when viewed by the theist or atheist.
- If you are asking what marble has to do with science - it is a metamorphic rock formed by geophysical processes that are of interest to numerous branches of science. Like all metamorphic rocks it has a history of formation that is subject to interpration. That interpretation is derived from the worldview possessed by the scientist. The Biblical creationist and evolutionist will very likely disagree about how marble formed because they hold to different axioms.
- Actually we would like articles on all types of rocks and minerals. Geology and Geophysics are both very important creation science disciplines.--Mr. Ashcraft 20:32, 20 December 2006 (EST)
Thank you for making the reply during your very busy work. It is amazing to see you creating many many pages in a very short period of time. I now understand more on what are you doiing in this wiki site. I am sorry that I could not make contribution at this time. But I wish I am able to do that soon. To fit what I know the best into existing creation theories is one of the biggest problem to me. The origin of marble is a good example. I can put some information about marble on the page just like those found in any geology 101 textbook. However, I still feel it defeats the purpose of this wiki site. In fact, if you don't mind a suggestion, that pure information page about any subject is not necessary on this site according to me. If a person want to know details of anything, it is not that hard to find it at other sites on Internet with just a few clicks. ... Well, I think I should stop it here, and may be continue my idea on the e-mail session. By the way, it seems I have signed up on the e-mail list for a few weeks, but so far, I have not read or received anything from anyone. I don't know either where to send the e-mail. Did I miss something? --Juvenis Sun 19:40, 23 December 2006 (EST)
- I do find you listed as a member of the email list. Chances are your email filters are preventing you from receiving posts. Check the folder where your filtered messages are deposited, or create a filter specific for CreationTalk. Alternatively, links to the user interface can be found on the CreationTalk page.
- You seem to be misguided about the purpose of this site. Its not just to provide information about creation. It is a creation science encyclopedia. While there are a great many topics that deal with the creation model explicitly and others that take a more antievolution stance, one of the main goals of the site is to provide science education that is evolution-free. --Mr. Ashcraft 20:42, 23 December 2006 (EST)
