I tried adding the following to the formatting help, but found that whilst it is used extensively on Wikipedia, it doesn't work on CreationWiki. 

However, when the desired text is the same as the filename plus some extra characters, there is no need to write both out.  Instead, simply append the extra characters outside the bracket.  They will, however, be part of the link.

*[[Charles Darwin]]'s displays as Charles Darwin's.
*[[Creationist]]s displays as Creationists.
*[[adaptation]]al advantage displays as adaptational advantage.

Is this because CreationWiki isn't using the latest code, or is there some other reason?

Anyway, having it here on the talk page saves it for if and when these links do work as explained.

It's not the latest version I see, but it is still pretty new. Is this an old feature of wikipedia or new? maybe there's an option I need to activate, though I don't have time to investigate atm. If you have time to find the answer then I'll fix it up. User:Msaward

"Simple" tables

I removed the bit about a simple way of creating tables by starting lines with a space because:

  • They aren't tables. That is, they cannot have multiple rows or columns.
    • They don't even produce table codes in the HTML output. (They produce <pre></pre> codes.)
  • They are simply boxed areas of unformatted text.

It's not just bulleted and numbered lists that don't work, there are a few other things as well, and they don't wrap their lines either. Also, the text is displayed in a monospaced font.

Wikipedia's formatting help has this to say about starting lines with spaces:

  • This is useful for:
    • pasting preformatted text;
    • algorithm descriptions;
    • program source code;
    • ASCII art;
    • chemical structures;
  • WARNING: If you make it wide, you force the whole page to be wide and hence less readable, especially for people who use lower resolutions. Never start ordinary lines with spaces.

I expect that CreationWiki would have very little use for any of those situations, so I wouldn't bother mentioning its use except perhaps as a warning not to start lines with spaces.

Heading levels

I also reverted (with modifications) the heading levels. Level 1 headings are for the article title. Users should always start with level 2 headings[2].

I also removed reference to a level x heading being "smaller". First, this should be intuitive, and second, although I expect that this would normally be true, the actual size depends on the heading style in the skin chosen by the user.

You have reversed my work several times now and you have already been warned not to do so. This page also specifically says it should not be altered except to add formatting help. Your deletion appears to be a deliberate disregard of this previous warning and CreationWiki guidelines. While your contributions are valued, I will not hesitate to ban you for 30 days if you once again delete or reverse administrator additions or edits.

In the future, if you feel the additions from an administrator, administration pages, or CreationWiki use instructions require revision, advise us using the discussion page, and if we agree with your suggestion, we will make the necessary adjustments.

Incorrect. I have edited your work several times. That's what a wiki is all about; multiple authors working together and editing each other's work to produce a work that is the result of a team.

Which is inconsistent with what a wiki is about, and should not preclude edits designed to improve the page. I believe that my changes were improvements, and I justified them at some length. You have reversed them without any explanation of why, other than to chide me.

I could express opinions about your motives also, but I don't believe that it's appropriate and have so far succeeded in resisting the temptation to do so. Please give me that courtesy also.

Can I suggest that such action would be better reserved for someone wilfully damaging CreationWiki instead of someone clearly trying to help it?

I have previously commented on this, and you have not explained just what that means.

I also commented on this in the same place, and again you have not responded.


I have also reinstated the part of this talk page that you deleted. There was still an outstanding matter there.
