Bombardier Beetle

Just read about Duane Gish and his theory about the Bombardier Beetle from Ian Plimer. He says that Gish had it pointed out to him several times (even right in front of him) that the two chemicals could be mixed without an explosion and that Gish, when presented with that, responded that it was a mistranslation from the German (even though the words were instable (unstable) and explosiv (explosive) and he studied German at Stanford) and despite this, the book was reprinted in 1980 with the Bombardier Beetles still in it? Is that true to any extent or did Gish just mess up? Shinydarkrai94 18:46, 2 May 2011 (PDT)

I'm reading this article which references Dr. Gish's book and states that the book does incorrectly claim that hydroquinones and hydrogen peroxides were explosive when mixed. It also states that the translation error was made by a Dr Robert Kofahl whereas Gish was using the translation instead of the original German as his source. As for the 1980 reprint, does this edition specifically claim that these two chemicals are explosive or does it simply say that Bombardier Beetles are examples of Irreducible complexity? -XJDHDR (talk) 03:10, 5 February 2018 (EST)

Gish Gallop

I've read on a few secular websites a claim about Dr. Gish termed the "Gish Gallop": That during Gish's debates, he would ensure that he spoke first then used his time to list off as much evidence as possible favouring Creation. The opponent inevitably fails to answer all of the evidence before the debate's end, at which point Gish declares himself the winner, or so the claim goes. The main source of this claim appears to be this article on the so-called "RationalWiki": [1]. The only counter-argument I have ever seen to this is this feedback response on the Answers in Genesis website written by Bodie Hodge where he called it a misrepresentation of Dr. Gish. I think that Gish's page should have more information on this. Did Dr. Gish actually use the Gish Gallop when debating Evolutionists? If not, it might be helpful to include some info on it here, at the very least as an easy source for refuting Evolutionists that invoke it. -XJDHDR (talk) 04:56, 20 March 2018 (EDT)
