Then griffins could also have been real living lions and the reference to wings could have resulted from a mix-up with eagles. Particularly since griffins are described as having had fur and feathers, not scales and membranous wings. Similarly Behemoth could have been a real living hippo and the reference to a strong tail etc could have resulted from a mix-up with crocodiles. No dinosaurs required anywhere.
