Talk:Calcol
Calcol as Cecrops I?
Everyone: I refer you to Talk:Zerah and the comment that I left there.
Here let it be said that James Ussher, among others, suggested that Cecrops was likely to have been an Egyptian, not a Hebrew. More to the point, Numbers 26:20 ) militates with extreme prejudice against the notion that the Zerahites, or indeed any branch of them, left Egypt ahead of the Exodus of Israel.--TemlakosTalk 00:40, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Calcol as Cecrops isn't justifiable etymologically, Cecrops sounds Egyptian not Semitic. Calcol sounds more plausible as a connection to Cholchis, but he still wouldn't be the only factor there, the oldest tribes of that region descended from Meshech and Tubul. --MithirandirOlorin 13:37, 17 January 2012 (PST)
Miletus
In Greek mythology the city of Miletus was founded by a person named Miletus. Who's father was Apollo usually but his Mother's identity varies. One version she is Areia, daughter of Cleochus. Cleochus could also be a variant or corruption of Calcol. Since I belive the Milseasons of Ireland where men fleeing the fall of Miletus in Greece, this is possibly significant.--MithirandirOlorin 23:19, 18 January 2012 (PST)
