When they arrived to Bethlehem everyone was amazed to see Naomi there. Naomi replied to everyone's reactions with simple bitter words. " 'Dont call me Naomi' she told them. 'Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought me misfortune upon me.'" Ruth stated that she would go to a field and
pick up the left over grain. She continued to do so in a very determined manner. Until one day a man named Boaz came who owned the fields. He was a very pleasant man and everyone loved him. He saw Ruth from a distance and asked one of his servants who she was. The servant told the story of how Ruth's husband died and she came with her mother-in-law to live here in Bethlehem. Boaz went over to Ruth and said " My daughter, listen to me. Don't go and glean in another field and don't go away from here. Stay here with my servant girls. Watch the fields where the men are harvesting, and follow along after the girls. I have told the men not to touch you. And whenever you are thirsty, go and get a drink from the water jars the men have filled." [http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ruth%202:8,9;&version=31; Ruth 2:8,9] Ruth was eternally grateful to Boaz and bowed down with her face to the ground. Boaz then asked her to get up and come sit and have bread dipped in wine vinegar. Ruth took the kind offer and ate till she was satisfied. Even so she still had some left over. She then packed it up and took it back to Naomi. Once Naomi heard the story of Boaz's kindness she was thrilled. Not only because he showed fondness to Ruth but also because she was related to Boaz. Naomi then came up with a plan. She told Ruth to quickly bathe, get clothed in her best clothes, spray some of her most expensive perfume and go to Boaz. There she would wait and watch him eat, and after that note where he is lying down. There Ruth was to uncover his feet and lie down next to them. This was a sign that showed that Ruth wanted Boaz to consider taking her as his wife. Boaz being much more older than Ruth was shocked. Even so he still took her as his bride. With this marriage he accumilated more land, and he harvested this. After the marriage Ruth gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Obed. Naomi took this as her son and raised him. Obed would be later known as the grandfather of King David, eventually linking to the Messiah.

== Thoughts ==
My thoughts on Ruth is that she was an amazing person. To have your husband die and leave your family for your mother-in-law takes alot of courage and faith. She could have done so much more with her life if she chose the easy path: going home, remarrying someone her age, having children to call her own, and be taken care of instead of working. But instead she chose to take a chance and to be there for the person she loved. She must have had so much faith that God would provide and take care of them. And to Naomi's suprise he did. He provided them with a man that could both carry on the family name, and provide for Naomi and Ruth. Our God is an amazing God and we should never doubt his ability to provide for us. Ruth really showed me how taking big steps are ok, because if you have the faith she did, God will provide without a doubt.
