The Dendroaspis polylepis or the Black Mamba is one of Africa’s most dangerous snakes. It can be found all throughout Africa and inhabits a wide variety of areas. The snake itself is very aggressive when feeling threatened. It strikes with deadly accuracy and will not hesitate to do so. The Black mamba is the largest venomous snake in the world. It can grow up to about 12-14ft. It is an endothermic reptile, which means that it must use its environment to control its body temperature. Though its name is the Black mamba it is not always “black”. When the snake is young it tends to be more of a grayish green color, but as it gets older the skin on the snake will darken.
