The endocrine system is network of glands that secretes [[hormones]] (chemical signals) into the [[circulatory system]]. It is involved in keeping [[homeostasis]] (regulating the bodies internal environment) as well as carrying out many applications controlled by the [[sympathetic system|sympathetic]] and [[parasympathetic]] conditions of the body with the aid of the nervous system. The endocrine system is controlled by the nervous system as well as by independent mechanisms, such as the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.
