-Mononucleosis (also known as the ''kissing disease'') is caused by the Ebstein-Barr Virus (EBV). It is also known as mono or the "kissing disease". Most symptoms of mono are not noticeable in children but can been seen when older. The EBV virus is very common and can be passed around very easily. There is no medicine you can take to get rid of the virus. Once one has caught this virus, it will stay with them for the rest of their life. Having mono is not a little thing; it's not like having a cold, it's more like having the flu and also has some of the same symptoms and cures.
