The Sinai Peninsula or Sinai (سيناء, Sīnāʼ ) is a triangular peninsula in Egypt about 60000 km2 in area (23,000 mi2). It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Israel to the northeast the Red Sea to the south, and the African part of Egypt to the west. It was largely in the Sinai peninsula that Moses led the people of Israel for 40 years during the exodus period.[1] It was also at Mount Sinai, south of the Sinai peninsula, which Moses received the Ten Commandments directly from God.[2]
