The Mastodons (Greek: μαστός, mastós, "breast" and Greek: ὀδούς, odoús, "tooth") were species of prehistoric proboscideans who lived in North America and also in South America during the Pleistocene and became extinct there, according to the chronology dominant, about 10 000 years.
