Hippocampus comes from two greek words, "hippo" which means 'horse', and "kampos" which means 'sea-monster'. So, hippocampus is a name used for seahorse, as well as the part of the brain which looks somewhat like a sea horse and apparently is important for memory and spatial orientation.
The word "Hippocampus" can refer to either
- Seahorse (marine animal)
- Hippocampus (brain component)
