Herodotus (Greek: Ἡρόδοτος, Hēródotos, Born::484 BC - Died::425 BC) was an ancient Greek historian who was born in Halicarnassus, Caria. He has been called "The Father of History", the first person to put together an accurate account of the past,[1] title which was given prior to Cicero. His masterpiece and the only work he is known to have produced is "Histories". The insertion of geographical passages into historical writing wasa common practice to Herodotus.[2]
