Insects are invertebrates, which are the most copious and widespread terrestrial taxon in the phylum Arthropoda. There are about 925,000 different species, making it the most diverse group of animals on earth. Insects can be found in almost all enviroments. Small species have even habituated life in the ocean. The total estimated number of current species (also including those that are not yet known to science) adds up to some where between two million and thirty million.
