Cycad is a term that refers to a group of cone-bearing plants that are living fossils, dated to radiometric dating to supposedly live 240 million years ago, but remain largely unchanged since that time. Most species of these plants are endangered and some are now even extinct. The sago palm is the most well known cycad.
