Summary

this is my first (known) encounter with the plasmodial stage of a slime mold! there were a couple of ~80mm patches of this yellow slime over some small decomposing branches amid leaf litter and grasses. none of the shots of the overall scene really appealed to me, so i went wiht uploading the 1:1 one (as usual) >< it looks like corn on the cob, but slimy...

remember, that the myxomycete is essentially a unicellular orgranism, but in the plasmodial stage has multiple nuclei. through haploid cell division they can produce some amazing branching structures and cover some distance...
