Summary

Straight Daiquiri. Much easier to make than a mojito.

2 parts rum, 2 parts lime, 1 part sugar solution.

Popolos call this a Dark Daiquiri and make it with dark rum. Not sure why I haven't photographed these before because its one of the more common drinks I'd make for myself. Tasty in its own right, but also the basis for more fruity drinks.

The daiquiri was one of the favorite drinks of the writer Ernest Hemingway. I thought he'd tinkered with the recipe a bit, witheld the sugar, because he was a hard drinking man's man - but he was diabetic so that might account for it too. In The Catcher in the Rye Holden Caulfield says the daiquiri is his favourite drink - but orders scotch and soda throughout. Its one of my favourites as well but I wouldn't expect it to be offered in most of the bars I frequent. This photo has notes. Move your mouse over the photo to see them.
