Summary
The Scallop by Maggi Hambling
A 12ft steel sculpture on Aldeburgh beach, commemorating the composer Benjamin Britten. It has attracted vandalism and controversy since it's unveiling in 2003.
Althought the Britten quote "I hear those voices that will not be drowned" is somewhat lost on me, I thought it was really quite beautiful, subtly changing depending on what the sun, sky and sea was up to.
