Summary
Poison Oak (Toxicodendron diversilobum) is abundant in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. In the Edgewood Nature Preserve, where this photo was taken, poison oak forms dense thickets in many places. The plant is deciduous, meaning that it loses its leaves in the winter. In the early spring the newly emerging leaves can take on a beautiful red color.
