Summary
The objectives of this study were to determine the method and site of stylet bundle insertion in the plant, to describe the path taken by the stylets through the plant tissue, and to observe on what tissues the adelgid feeds. Stylet bundle insertion site, path traveled, and feeding site were examined for the adelgid on current and previous years’ needles on eastern hemlock using electron microscopy.
