David (1085 BC–r. 1055 BC-1015 BC), (Hebrew: דָּוִד, Davíd; Arabic: داوود, Dāwūd ; Geez : Dāwīt ; "beloved"), was the second King of the United Kingdom of Israel. King David was born in Bethlehem, about 1085 BC (1040 BC according to Edwin R. Thiele), and he was a part of the tribe of Judah (and king of that tribe only for seven and one-half years). He became king of all Israel in about 1048 BC, and reigned successfully until about 1015 BC.
