Nonconformists are any English Protestants or other Christians who do not conform to the doctrines or practices of the Church of England.
Nonconformists are also called Dissenters or Free Churchmen.
In England and Wales, the Nonconformist label is applied to all Protestants who dissent from, or take issue with, Anglicanism. The term has been applied to Congregationalists, Prebyterians, Methodists, and Baptists, and extends to Quakers, the Salvation Army, Plymouth Brethren, Churches of Christ, and English Moravians.
In Scotland, where the established church is Presbyterian, Nonconformists are regarded as members of any non-Presbyterian churches, including Anglicans.
