Summary

Zigzag bladderwort (Utricularia subulata) This magical little carnivorous plant is often overlooked and unappreciated. The Zigzag bladderwort blossom is very tiny but they sparkle like little yellow gems in the wet pine flatwoods and marsh edges. Dew often covers them and they love to confuse camera's auto-focus and exposure sensors. They have tiny bladder-like traps that capture microorganisms in the water saturated soil. The plant above lives at Juno Dunes Natural Area in Palm Beach County.
