Summary
Human cases of acute human Trypanosoma cruzi infections in the Amazon Basin (19-28). French Guiana, 15; Colombia, 100; Ecuador, 14; Peru, 85; and Brazilian States: Amapá, 27; Acre, 7; Amazonas, 33; Pará, 57; and Maranhão, 50 cases. Insert shows Paço do Lumiar county in the island São Luis, State of Maranhão, an ecoregion vulnerable to human predation, where acute T. cruzi infections have been identified.
