Identification Tips:
- Leaves: Variable but usually triangular; 2 to 5 inches long and wide; usually green above, light green below; toothed margin; flattened leafstalks
- Twig: Short; hairless
- Bark: Smooth gray to off-white; deeply furrowed in old trees
