Creative Commons
From CreationWiki, the encyclopedia of creation science
The Creative Commons License is a type of public use permission statement, which is broadly known as "some rights reserved". It allows for a set of reservations that fall between the full copyright (all rights reserved), and the public domain (no rights reserved).
The license allows the author of a copyrighted work the ability to maintain a specified level of control over their property while releasing it for public use. When specifying a Creative Commons License, the author can place the following limitations/permissions on the use of the created work.
Options Include:
- Allowing commercial uses of your work.
- Allowing modifications of your work.
From the Creative Commons website:
"Creative Commons is a new system, built within current copyright law, that allows you to share your creations with others and use music, movies, images, and text online that's been marked with a Creative Commons license. If you're looking for more in-depth information, our About section contains more about the history, concepts and people behind the organization. To see the Creative Commons in action, try out our Find, Create, and Share sections, or one of the sections devoted to Audio, Video, Images, Text, and Education." [1]
